My friend, Guadelupe, washes cars for a living. Outside the bank (where she does not have a bank account), in front of “& Cafe” (where she cannot afford even a small cup of coffee), she wipes clean the grime of dust from countless car doors & hoods day in and day out.
Guadelupe might not have a bank account, but today she smiles big as she receives her high school diploma that’s worth far more! It was an honor to celebrate with Guadelupe today and it will be my pleasure to sit on the curb with her tomorrow as she washes cars.
(Excuse my long pause in writing…my goal is to write at least once a week.)
